The billionaire's mother surprises with the statement/ "I have to sleep in the garage when..."

Elon Musk could easily build his beloved mother her own room at SpaceX, but instead, she chooses to sleep in the garage.

Thanks to his various business interests such as Tesla, SpaceX and Neuralink, Elon, 51, has become the richest man in the world with a staggering fortune of $257bn (£219bn).

The entrepreneur is very modest about his material assets, previously claiming to live in a $50,000 rental property near SpaceX headquarters.

In May 2020, Elon tweeted: "Selling almost all physical possessions. Won't own a house.'

It seems the businessman's mother shares his frugal nature as Maye Musk refuses to look for luxury housing when she visits him at the SpaceX base in Boca Chica, Texas.

“I have to sleep in the garage. You can't have a fancy house next to a missile site," Maye, 74, told The Sunday Times when asked how he gets by in that area./ CNA.al
