Historic FIFA decision/ The Germany-Costa Rica World Cup challenge is judged by a woman

Germany plays this Thursday the decisive match for it in Qatar 2022. The representative led by Hansi Flik plays against Costa Rica the last chance to continue in the World Cup, where it has only one point in the group after losing to Japan and drawing with Spain.

The Germans' challenge will be historic, for the simple fact that for the first time, FIFA has trusted a trio of female referees to officiate a World Cup challenge.

The Frenchwoman Stefani Frapar will be the main judge of the duel, with assistants from the Brazilian Neuza Bak and the Mexican Karen Diaz Medina.

France's Frapar became the first referee to officiate a men's Champions League game as well as the first to officiate a World Cup qualifier. But as of Thursday, her name will forever remain in history as the first to referee a match in the final stage of such a tournament.
