Real Madrid suffer heavy blow, Courtois out for long time

Real Madrid have lost Thibaut Courtois for at least six weeks after suffering a muscle injury in his right arm.

The Belgian goalkeeper was injured during the warm-up against Manchester City, but only played in the first half before being substituted.

His four spectacular saves in that fraction of the game showed his sacrifice, but the MRI confirmed that the extent of the injury is serious.

As a result, Courtois will miss the big derby against Atletico Madrid this Sunday. Andriy Lunin will once again be the first choice for coach Arbeloa, as was the case in the second half of the European challenge.

The Madrid club expects their goalkeeper to miss at least seven official matches during this period.
