Ranieri refuses, here are the candidates for the Italy bench

Claudio Ranieri will not be the new coach of the Italian national team. After long reflection, Ranieri has rejected the proposal of president Gravina, despite the full support of the Roma leadership for a dual task.

He stressed the desire to respect previous commitments with Roma in his new role.

Also, Stefano Pioli, mentioned as one of the possible candidates, will not take the job, having chosen Fiorentina. The Italian Football Federation has 48 hours to decide on Spalletti's successor.

The characteristics sought are a coach with a pragmatic approach and little obsession with tactics. Possible options remain Roberto Mancini, despite his strained relationship with Gravina, as well as Daniele De Rossi and Gennaro Gattuso.
