Chaos in Italian football, total failure in Europe

Italian football is going through a difficult period, with negative results at club and national level.

Italy risks not having a team in the semi-finals of European cups for the first time since 2019.

On the international stage, the national team has failed to qualify for the World Cup for the third time in a row, after missing out in 2018 and 2022.

In European competitions, only Bologna and Fiorentina are still in contention, but both have lost their last few games and face difficult comebacks.

In the Champions League, all Italian teams were eliminated before the quarterfinals, with Napoli exiting in the group stage and Inter being stopped by Bodo/Glimt.

In the FIFA rankings, Italy has dropped to 12th place. In the UEFA coefficient, it ranks fifth, behind England, Spain, Germany and Portugal.

Meanwhile, a change in the leadership of the Federation is expected after the resignation of Gabriele Gravina.
