Mario Mitaj will remain with Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia after coach Laurent Blanc opposed his planned departure in the summer. Saudi media reports that the French coach sees the Albanian international defender as a key player in his plans.

After strong criticism from fans, club officials have drawn up a four-point plan, which includes Mitaj's stay in the team. He will replace midfielder Aouar, who is set to leave, on the list of overage players.

At the same time, Al Ittihad will bring in another underage foreign player and is expected to terminate the contract with Brazilian Fabinho.

Saudi media reports that Mitaj is part of the club's project to aim for trophies this season. Last season, the Albanian defender played 23 matches, with one goal and two assists. In the current edition, he has been a starter in all the challenges so far.
