The President of the Albanian Football Association, Armand Duka, has commented on the draw for the Nations League, where Albania will face Finland, Belarus and San Marino.

The Duke expressed himself cautiously, emphasizing that matches are won on the field and not on paper, but admitted that Albania was "lucky" in terms of geography, as the journeys will not be long.

However, the head of Albanian football underlined that everyone's absolute attention is on the play-off matches in March, where Albania seeks historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Duka also recalled the importance of the Nations League as a second opportunity to secure a ticket for the next European Championship.

"I've never thought that matches are won by lottery or on paper. Matches and competitions are won on the field. There are times when you think the draw is bad and in the end the opposite happens, or even vice versa."

There is always a balance of teams, because they are divided into pots. I can't say if we were lucky or unlucky. I can say that we were lucky for one thing. We didn't have an opponent that we had to travel far.

In Finland I hope we don't play in November, because at that time the temperatures are very low and not good for football. It's a competition that we have time to prepare for. I'm convinced that we will prepare well. For everyone, the main thing is the play-off matches in March and then we will think about that.

"We hope to have success in March and then think about the Nations League. It is no less important competition. From this competition we can secure the European Championship play-offs. I hope we have all the players ready," said Duka.
