Rinderpest/ No new cases in the north, movement restrictions continue

With the exception of the case two weeks ago when rinderpest was detected on a small farm in the Postriba Domain, there have been no other cases so far in the Shkodra Prefecture or in Lezha and Kukës.

The confirmation comes from the regional director of the veterinary service for the north, Andi Bilali.

He once again emphasized the order of the Minister of Agriculture, according to which the movement of livestock is blocked until this disease is overcome.

" The situation is calm, especially in the Shkodër region and there have been no cases. Work continues every day to monitor farms in the field. In addition, we are working to raise awareness among farmers. By order of the ministry, the movement of animals from the market to the farm and vice versa has been blocked. At the end of the 21-day quarantine, if there are no new cases, some of the markets may be unblocked ," said Bilali.

 

 

The prefectures of Shkodër, Lezhë and Kukës have 6 livestock markets, which operate once a week, but during this period, the trading of small animals is not allowed.

The veterinary service calls on farmers to immediately notify the veterinary doctor of the administrative unit where they live of any suspected cases in their herds./ CNA
