“The Impact of Murals on the Transformation of the City of Ferizaj” is the lecture given at the University of Shkodra “Luigj Gurakuqi” by artist and dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts at the University of Ferizaj in Kosovo, Lebibe Shabani. Together with the Department of Arts in Shkodra, Shabani said that her presence aims to launch a joint collaboration between young people in the two Albanian states.

"For months now, we have been starting several initiatives to start cooperation, initially as two universities, since I work at the University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj and we have an artistic organization where we make many murals and we wanted to start a collaboration between young people. I hope to realize it very soon. Today I came to give a lecture in Shkodra regarding all the work that the artistic organization 'Mural Fest Kosova' has done and after this lecture we will enable the realization of a mural within these spaces", said Shabani.
The murals in Ferizaj, Kosovo, says artist Shabani, have had a positive impact on the city, while the topics addressed are social.

"The murals in Ferizaj have had a positive impact and have made a great artistic transformation in the city. It is understood that, from a simple facade, the artistic color in it is clearly different. I appreciate the initiative that we have started with the artistic community and undoubtedly this work must continue. Art must always convey a message and we are aware of this point. In these 10 years, each time 'Mural Fest Kosova' has addressed different topics. The organization's staff gathers and analyzes the current situation and what is necessary at that moment and evaluates it for a certain topic. Mainly the topics that are addressed are social, about human rights, especially women's rights, but we have also had other topics, such as environmental protection. I have a weakness for murals and I have been creating them for over two decades, murals which are very important because they are works of art in public spaces and convey a message not to an individual, or not to a closed gallery, but to every citizen who passes through that space. The murals have been well received in Ferizaj and this has been a "A great incentive for us to continue," said Shabani.
Shabani has chosen Shkodra, a city that has begun to apply murals by various artists.

"Shkodra is the cradle of culture and we have come here to give and receive from Shkodra. I have personally seen beautiful and very valuable murals, such as the 'Motra Tone' mural at the entrance to Shkodra. We have had a good partnership with Shkodra, as the Ferizaj municipality, as a university, and I also had an exhibition 4 years ago here in Shkodra, so it is a very good twinning," said Shabani.
After this lecture, it is expected that young artists in Ferizaj and Shkodra will interact and enable the realization of various murals in both places. /CNA
