The University of Shkodra "Luigj Gurakuqi" organized the Job and Career Fair, bringing together students, well-known businesses in the country and successful alumni. Rector Tonin Gjuraj stated that starting next year, the University of Shkodra will add a labor market board with important figures from all fields.

"The Job and Career Fair will now be a good, consolidated, annual practice for the entire University. We are doing something like this because in our philosophy we have the student at the center. The trio, administration-staff-student where we put knowledge and profession at the service, will be the focus of our work and will be the motto in the coming years. Starting from the next academic year, we will include in the University's statute an advisory body that is the labor market boards with important figures, personalities from business, education, politics, media, banks who will be mainly successful graduates of our University, who today excel in these fields and will be the opponents of our study programs", - said Gjuraj.

It is time, said Rector Gjuraj, for Albanian universities to respond to the needs of the labor market, as is happening in some European countries.

"Classical universities now seem to be shrinking, while universities that come from industry to respond to the needs of businesses are increasingly increasing in Europe and the world. In accordance with the national employment program, we will review the curriculum and build the curricula of study programs in accordance with national and regional needs. What we need to do is to increase and multiply the employment opportunities for our students, and the strength of an institution is not the number of students, but the tracking of employed students and the increase in employment opportunities. The higher the percentage of employed, the more successful and the better the quality of a university is measured," said Gjuraj.

The Deputy Mayor of Shkodra Municipality, Teuta Qyteza, said that study should be linked to employment and this University of Shkodra Fair enables such a thing.

"The study should be linked to employment because this is the goal; harmonizing the study with this job fair, with the experiences of businesses, with all those present here, even with the 'Atelie' center that the Municipality of Shkodra has dedicated entirely to the service it offers only to the youth of the entire municipality through services dedicated to youth to shape them as best as possible and to adapt them with training and other professional formations to the activities that take place every day in this youth center", said Qyteza.
