For months, 28 families from the Roma community living in the wards have sought intervention because livelihoods were impossible.

The Municipality of Shkodra has completed this investment that aims to improve the basic living conditions and increase the social dignity of this needy group. The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality, Teuta Qyteza, together with the Social Services staff, visited the beneficiary families, seeing closely the works carried out and the positive changes in their daily lives.

"Today we are in this social housing center where the Roma community lives. The only real dissatisfaction is the damaged floors. The apartments urgently need investment in flooring and we took their requests into account. Therefore, we immediately improved this part, which also affects the improvement of health and aesthetics," declared the Deputy Mayor of Shkodër Municipality Teuta Qyteza.

Installing new floors was an urgent need, as the humidity and previous wear and tear made living difficult, residents say.

" We are living well. The floor was a problem, now it's solved ," said one of the residents.

"We were at the municipality and complained about the floor. They took our concerns into account and now it's been fixed.
Water was leaking from underneath and we couldn't fix it. It wasn't even heated inside, we even ate our bread outside ," the residents declared.

28 families were sheltered in containers 3 years ago, while dozens more continue to seek assistance from institutions for shelter./ CNA
