The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu, inspected this morning the Hemodynamics Unit at the Fier Memorial Hospital, where the capacities for the treatment of cardiac problems in the southern area have been doubled.

"There are 4 counties that are referred to in terms of the waiting list for coronary angiography at the Memorial Hospital. Since the end of May, when the Memorial also turned 2 years old, Hemodynamics is being carried out 24 hours a day, 3 days a week. We are already in a very good phase regarding diagnostics through angiography for cerebral problems. We have doubled the capacities in infrastructure and technology, we can also expand the 24-hour activity of hermodynamics, given that we also have human resources, which we are strengthening step by step. During these two years we managed to do over 2,400 coronary angiograms", Manastirliu underlined.

Referring to the response to cardiac emergencies, Manastirliu said that within the tourist season and with the expansion of capacities, Fier Memorial Hospital is ready to receive all emergencies of acute myocardial infarction.

"We are in the tourist season and there is a special value that we expand the service capacities, already the cases that are treated in the emergency rooms of our hospitals and require treatment through Hemodynamics, we can refer them directly to this hospital because how many cases acute myocardial infarction, are treated at the Memorial Hospital with a very high-quality and professional team", said Manastirliu.

The Hemodynamic Service at the Memorial Hospital has been operating for a month for cardiac emergencies 24/7, according to a detailed plan with 4 hemodynamic units throughout the country.

In the Memorial Hospital, the excellent cooperation between Turkish and Albanian hemodynamic doctors, with 8 cardiologists and hemodynamic doctors, has enabled 120 patients per month to perform coronary angiography/cardiac procedures with advanced methods and in these two years more than 2400 patients. With the expansion of the staff and the doubling of the capacities with the placement of the second angiograph in the Hemodynamics Unit at the Memorial Hospital, it will be possible to further expand this service, finally solving cardiac problems with advanced methods, even emergency cases for the residents of the south of the country, but also to respond even better to the needs during the tourist season for the south of the country. At Memorial there are 17 health services that are already providing a new standard of service for patients in the South.
