The "museum" neighborhood of Pogradec, otherwise known as Topleci, with a culture over 200 years old, has not known the hand of investment for years, but it seems that already through a very important project, the revitalization of this area will take place. The luminaries of literature, Lasgush Poradeci and Mitrush Kuteli, lived in this neighborhood, while the cobbled streets and water sources are what make this area special, turning it into a symbolic neighborhood of the city.

In the project that will start investments in November, the intervention will be in two areas, in the Toplec neighborhood and on "Naim Frashëri" street. According to the deputy mayor of Pogradec Municipality, Paskalino Ziko, this investment amounts to 6.5 million dollars, financed by the government through the Albanian Development Fund, while the project is currently in the procurement phase.

"It is one of the most important projects that will be developed in Pogradec. The project includes the total rehabilitation of two neighborhoods, which have the status of the historical center, which are "Naim Frashëri" street and Toplec neighborhood. The investment amounts to 6.5 million dollars, financed by the government through the Albanian Development Fund. The project is in the procurement stage and after this procedure it is expected to start the intervention in the historical center of Pogradec."

The Deputy Mayor of Pogradec provides details regarding this investment, indicating that the project foresees the rehabilitation of the facades, ground and surface infrastructure of the roads. On the other hand, there will be interventions in the facades of 100 apartments, where in the Toplec neighborhood some of them are cultural monuments of the first category.

"The project envisages the rehabilitation of the facades, the underground and surface infrastructure of the roads, which will be paved with cobblestones. The facades of about 100 houses will be transformed, intervention will be carried out for the restoration of roofs, windows and doors. The houses of the Toplec neighborhood will be restored, where some of them are cultural monuments of the first category. The house of Lasgush Poradec, Mitrush Kuteli, as well as the building of the second Albanian school are located here. The project is expected to start in November and will be completed within 14 months."

Through this major investment, the goal and aim is to turn this historical area of ??Pogradec into an important tourist pole. The transformation of the museum district will also enable the return of buildings to inns, bars and businesses that will be in the function of tourism. Paskalino Ziko has emphasized that they will take care of preserving the identity of the urban ensemble, since during these years there have been interventions in objects by residents that have affected the architecture of the area.

"The project aims to turn the historical area of ??Pogradec into an important tourist pole, which will serve the development of tourism. This transformation will aim at the return of the restored buildings into hostels, bars, businesses, for the purpose of tourism. During these 30 years, even in the historical center, as everywhere, there have been interventions in objects by residents, which have affected the architecture of the historical center. For these structures built in violation of the regulations of the historical center, the project also foresees their demolition, or their integration in accordance with the architecture of the area. The restoration of the objects of the historical center will aim to preserve the identity of the urban ensemble."

The project financed by the government in cooperation with the Albanian Development Fund is expected to start in November of this year and be completed for a period of 14 months. This is one of the most important projects for Pogradec, as it will return the museum neighborhoods to the splendor they once had./ CNA
