Rama to "Die Presse": Albania's integration, a unique

Prime Minister Edi Rama has given an interview to the well-known Austrian media outlet "Die Presse".

Rama discussed Albania's chances of joining the EU, the fight against corruption, and the ambiguous relationship with Russia.

Rama focused mainly on the country's European integration, which he described as a very unique circumstance, at a time when geopolitical reality has made Europe with two borders, inside and outside the EU.

"I think that integration is not just for Albania, but must be seen in a broader perspective. It is related to the entire region, the Western Balkans, as well as the European Union itself. I believe that it is not usual to have this part of Europe disconnected from the EU, and it is even very unique in history to have this geopolitical reality of the EU with two borders, inside and outside Europe. For reasons related to European security, cohesion, unity, it is absolutely clear that there is no other way than for the Balkan countries to be in the EU", said Rama. /CNA
