Political stance on electoral reform!

The Legality Movement party has maintained a political stance on electoral reform.

According to her, the key role in implementing this reform belongs to the parliamentary opposition and especially the Democratic Party, which has decisive weight in the parliamentary committees for electoral reform and tomorrow in the voting process in the Assembly.

The Legality Movement Party states that every opposition political entity that demands changes to the Electoral Code should unite in a common political front, according to its own proposals, to impose real changes through the Democratic Party.

"Political stance on electoral reform! The Albanian opposition is facing a historic responsibility. While political action, any kind of opposition protest, is a democratic tool and today a necessity to denounce and delegitimize a government steeped in corruption, crime and state capture, real political change in Albania will finally come through free and fair elections.

Under the current conditions, with this government and this Electoral Code, free elections are impossible. Therefore, electoral reform is not a technical issue, but a political and democratic necessity.

The key role in implementing this reform belongs to the parliamentary opposition and especially the Democratic Party, which has decisive weight in the parliamentary committees for the prison reform and tomorrow in the voting process in the Assembly.

Regarding the above, any opposition political entity that seeks to amend the Electoral Code must unite in a common political front, according to its own proposals, to impose real changes through the Democratic Party.

For its part, the Democratic Party must articulate, as soon as possible, clearly and publicly:

What are the concrete changes that it plans to request in the Electoral Code and what will be its red line in relation to the Socialist Party, regarding the requested changes, during the voting approval process?

"Without a real electoral reform, we believe that every political action will remain without the proper product, while Albanian democracy will continue to be held hostage by a deformed system," the reaction states./ CNA
