Opposition in Territorial Reform?/ Balla: I do not issue ultimatums, they should

The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, said today that he will not issue an ultimatum to the opposition, in such a way that its deputies participate in the Special Commission for Territorial Reform.

In a press release, Balla stated that this process is important, as is the process, which, as he emphasized, is related to the country's EU membership opportunities.

"With this pace of reforms, Albania has every chance of joining the EU by 2029. Each of us, regardless of political group, must understand that this legislature is historic in terms of the intensity of work in the Assembly. I have heard opposition colleagues complain about the long sessions and I want to tell them that they will be more frequent and with the possibility of increasing the sessions. It will be one of the busiest parliamentary years because even one article is part of the EU prerequisites. I do not make ultimatums, I am not of that nature, but I have made a request that the opposition group reflect on the agreement with the special group for Territorial Reform. We are in conditions where after 3 months of establishing an important reform, the deputies are not allowed by their leaders to participate. I believe and hope that they will also take on the tasks within the composition of this committee so that tomorrow we are not forced to establish unblocking mechanisms. "Inclusion and dialogue are a prerequisite for participation," Balla said./ CNA
