"The opposition is the only alternative"/ Zhupa to CNA: Rama must be

Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa, in an interview given to CNA, stated that the only real alternative today. Zhupa stated that unlike the government, the opposition has not stopped any investigation and has not remained silent in the face of scandals.

In her interview with CNA, Zhupa said that every Albanian feels oppressed because the government works for a handful of clients. Further, the MP said that the opposition will always be on the side of the public interest.

Zhupa called on citizens to participate in today's protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office. In the protest, Zhupa said that accountability will be demanded and the country will not be allowed to be held hostage by corruption.

Question: As the government faces scandals and accusations against its officials, do you think the opposition with its action is an alternative for citizens?

Yes, the opposition is the only real alternative today. Unlike the government, we have not stopped any investigation, we have surrendered all immunity even when we were in government and we do not remain silent in the face of scandals. Our action is proof that the Democratic Party raises its voice for justice, accountability and the rule of law. Citizens need hope and a government that works for them, not against them. Every Albanian today feels oppressed and unheard, because the government works for a handful of clients. The opposition is and will always be on the side of the public interest.

Question: What is your call to citizens?

My call to all citizens is to participate massively in today's protest, February 10, at 5:00 PM, in front of the Prime Minister's Office because it is their protest. By remaining indifferent, evil oppresses us. Democracy is defended with participation, reaction and civic courage. Join us, let's protest together, demand accountability and not allow Albania to be held hostage by corruption and misgovernment. Edi Rama must leave within an hour to make way for a technical government that creates the conditions for a real competition of alternatives, where parties are accountable to citizens./CNA
