"There is no obstacle to the negotiation process with the EU"/

Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu gave a statement to the media after the government meeting where she announced some of the decisions taken.

Koçiu stated that the roadmap for achieving sustainable development objectives by 2030 was approved at the meeting of the Council of Ministers. He also announced the approval of the strategic partnership with UN agencies.

"The government today approved the National Roadmap for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. It contains 65 measurable criteria that will guide the work of public institutions. Another decision is that of the strategic partnership of institutions and the government with the UN agency for the period 2027-2031. Also an important document that has undergone a wide phase of consultations ," said Koçiu.

Meanwhile, in response to journalists' questions, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the majority's position regarding the immunity of MP Belinda Balluku has not hindered the negotiation process with the EU.

"Our position has been clear and is not a position that has hindered or hinders the negotiation process with the EU. The Socialist Party in the Assembly has developed and continues to dialogue in a constructive approach. These decisions have not affected Albania's progress and have not called into question its relationship with justice. All of these are allusions by the opposition and those who tarnish and besmirch Albania daily," she said.

Among other things, she added that the IBAR report should be read carefully, so that, according to her, incorrect interpretations are not made.

"We are here negotiating to close the chapters within this decade. This is the news that everyone must accept and for fulfilling our duties, the EU recognizes our progress. The IBAR report will have to be read well and clearly, so that there are no misinterpretations in the EC reports. This is because it is language that guides the institutions ," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Regarding the launch of the process of closing open chapters, Koçiu stated that the aspiration is to have discussions on 10 of them started within this year.

"We are working, we are waiting for the conclusion of the 8th Intergovernmental Conference, we are waiting for the recommendations for the final conditions and the aspiration is that within this year we have started discussions on 10 chapters. We need to sit down at the table with the European side to discuss all the tasks and recommendations one by one ," she said. /CNA
