The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, received today in a meeting the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

During this meeting, the country's progress in the negotiation process was assessed, including the holding of the 8th EU-Albania Intergovernmental Conference, which confirmed the fulfillment of the interim criteria for the "Fundamentals" Chapter.

The President of the Republic conveyed to Costa Albania's determination to complete the agenda and objectives for closing the group chapters within 2027.

 

 

"The reform of the judiciary, the strengthening of the rule of law, the fight against corruption and organized crime, as well as full compliance with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy prove that Albania is a reliable partner and willing to be part of the European family. The EU's enlargement to the Western Balkans is not just an integration process, but a strategic investment for the peace, security and stability of the entire European continent ," said Begaj.
