The Minister of Internal Affairs, Besfort Lamallari, participated in the 6-month analysis of the work of the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), where he assessed the key role of this institution in strengthening the integrity of the State Police and in meeting the standards required by the process of Albania's integration into the European Union.

In his speech, the minister emphasized that the analysis should not be seen simply as a moment of balance, but as an opportunity to realistically assess achievements and challenges at a crucial stage for the country.

Lamallari also praised the AMP's contribution to fulfilling obligations stemming from the European integration process, mentioning the reports to the European Commission.

 

“ Until accession to the European Union, results will not be measured only by laws or documents, but by functioning institutions, by standards that are implemented and by the trust that citizens have in the state. In this process, the Police Supervision Agency has a key role. The fight against corruption within law enforcement structures is a non-negotiable priority. AMP must be increasingly proactive in identifying cases of corruption and integrity violations, through risk analysis, inspections, administrative investigations and professional handling of citizens' complaints. Every professional investigation, every case of corruption discovered, every violation punished and every procedure conducted with integrity brings Albania closer to the European Union. There can be no strong police without integrity and there can be no sustainable security without the trust of citizens. Every employee who violates the law, abuses his duty or betrays the trust of citizens does not only harm the institution, but also strikes at the authority of the state itself. Precisely for this reason, AMP must act decisively, without compromise and without influence, to "Identify, investigate and remove from the ranks of the Police any element that stains the uniform. I am convinced that with professionalism, determination and responsibility, the AMP will continue to make an important contribution to strengthening the rule of law and Albania's irreversible path towards membership in the European Union", said Lamallari./CNA
