After the heavy defeat in the by-elections where the Socialist Party took all five municipalities, the opposition seems to be using it as a maneuver to avoid responsibility for what is yet another defeat, hiding behind independent candidates.

To comment on these elections, on the show Të Paekspozuarit with Ylli Rakipi, Ilir Alimehmeti comes up with two standards.

Alimehmeti said that when discussions were held about the candidates who would face the SP, he stated that the candidate should be a senior leading figure of the DP, but in fact at that time he supported Florjan Binaj as an independent candidate.

In addition, Ylli Rakipi has taken a dig at him by saying that the DP had two senior leadership figures but they refused to run, namely Ilir Alimehmeti and Jorida Tabaku.

This question has left Alimehmet speechless, who on the one hand says that the candidate should be a senior leadership figure and on the other hand, in his speeches, he declared that he would not be part of the race because he is looking for long-term projects and running in these elections was short-term for him.

So, as he said on the show, it wasn't important for him to come out with political candidates before his opponent, but clearly his own interests. 

So like many others, Alimehmeti has put his interests before duty, as he was one of the most voted for by citizens in the May 11 elections, after Jorida Tabaku.

Now Alimehmeti is using double standards, even defying the leader of the DP after he stated that without a meaningful reorganization, it is impossible to move forward, whether he is inspiring or not./ CNA
