"I want to thank from the bottom of my heart those hundreds, thousands of members, friends and sympathizers of the X party, who fought with us in this electoral battle with selflessness, passion, perseverance and dignity, because they believed in us, our program, our vision, our commitment.

It was a battle, perhaps the most difficult, but also the most beautiful election battle we have ever had.

I want to thank the hundreds of thousands of citizens who honored us with their votes.

In the conditions in which this electoral battle was played for us, their vote was by no means certain.

The election result is definitely negative for us. Although the X party remains the official opposition, we have suffered a heavy electoral defeat.

But I believe that, in the first place, the election result is mostly negative for society and democracy.

The concentration of all power in one party is negative for all progressive forces, society, democracy, progress. And this sends alarm bells of danger to every democratic citizen.

Unfortunately, the main responsibility for this development is the leadership of the party in power, which shifted the pre-election campaign towards insults and intimidation of political opponents, "massive vote buying", the use of abuse of the administration, often slipping into an extreme discourse. , arrogant and disruptive.

Whenever extreme forces gain ground, progressive and democratic political forces must organize their resistance. And as far as we are concerned, democratic resistance for the good of society is a priority.

I repeat, the election result is definitely negative for us.

This new situation requires from the X party a proper, measured assessment, maturity, lucidity and democratic analysis, unity, but also drastic and quick decisions for the necessary changes.

It requires us to meet again with our values, to do a deep analysis, to listen to the base of the party, to humble ourselves before their loneliness, to read the vote and to take political responsibilities. To boldly renew our executive force vertically, from top to bottom, showing confidence in youth.

Of course, also to put an end to the mentalities and attitudes that have cost us and still cost us dearly today.

It requires us to reflect with maturity, clarity and responsibility, with an open mind and putting the interest of the nation on the causes of the election result and to stand up to the role that, despite our defeat, the citizens once again assigned to us with their vote: As the opposition official, that can resist extreme autocracy and exercise a decisive programmatic opposition.

Time, to work systematically and without lies with the goal of re-establishing our political strength, is not unlimited. The time horizon for our return to power is the parliamentary elections in about two years from today.

And this must be done successfully because the needs of the citizens and the country dictate it.

For Party X, a long historical cycle has closed today. A history of positive contribution to the citizens and the homeland.
And we should appreciate it with pride.

But at the same time, we must take the necessary steps, however painful they may be, to quickly and dynamically open a new historical cycle, even more promising. To address the visible but also the invisible dangers to society and democracy. To create the conditions for changes and new contracts in favor of progress and justice.

Party X takes over from today the responsibilities assigned to it by the popular vote.

Through coordinated and collective processes, we will make our decisions, as befits a participatory democratic party.

Party members will be called upon to judge us all and devise the strategy that meets these difficult circumstances.

We will be open to listen without jealousy, without hiding where we went wrong, why we went wrong, how we went wrong and take the responsibilities that belong to us without prejudging anyone.

If we read correctly, clearly and clearly the vote and the message that the citizens gave us with their vote, then the possibilities for us to return stronger, hope and governing alternative, double from today, when the counting has just closed and the results of the elections have come out.

I strongly believe that serious discussion, fruitful self-criticism of the mistakes and shortcomings of the previous period, which weighs on everyone, the elaboration of a new serious and radical plan to break away from the past, a new plan to change relations at the political level through a broad alliance against this sect and the defense of democracy, a plan of democratic reconstruction and social organization, which will use knowledge and skills making the society participative, the claim for a different model of governance as well as for a new role of the party, was and is the only way to overcome the crisis and to gather and rebuild the party after this defeat.

Personally, as the leader of the X party, I will not hide behind my finger, nor will I point the finger at others. Nor will I hide behind the articles and paragraphs of the party statute. First of all, I will turn the finger and the responsibility away from myself, as a sign of reflection, responsibility, political maturity and democratic vision.

It goes without saying that in this collective process of reconstruction and reorganization of the party, I will be the first to place myself in the judgment of party members, guaranteeing an orderly and fair process within the party, an open and equal competition and respecting any result that will come from the vote of members and sympathetic citizens!"
