The star of "3 Doors Down" passes away

Brad Arnold, the lead singer of the Grammy-nominated American rock band 3 Doors Down, died on Saturday at the age of 47, several months after announcing that he had been diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer.

The news was confirmed by the group itself through a statement, which states that Arnold passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, after his courageous battle with cancer.

3 Doors Down formed in Mississippi in 1995 and achieved international fame four years later with the hit "Kryptonite," which was nominated for a Grammy Award.

According to the band's statement, Arnold wrote the song during math class when he was just 15 years old.

The band's debut album, "The Better Life", sold over 6 million copies, cementing 3 Doors Down as one of the most important names in alternative rock of the early 2000s. A second Grammy nomination came in 2003 for the song "When I'm Gone".

The group released a total of six albums, with the most recent, "Us And The Night", coming out in 2016.

Other well-known songs include "Loser", "Duck and Run" and "Be Like That", the latter part of the soundtrack of the film American Pie 2.

In May of last year, Arnold revealed that he was suffering from clear cell renal cell carcinoma, which had spread to his lungs, forcing the band to cancel a summer tour.

In a message, the band 3 Doors Down emphasized that Arnold's music echoed beyond the stage, creating moments of connection, joy, and shared experiences that will live long.
