Comedian and actor Russell Brand has been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse in an investigation by the Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches - charges he denies, Sky News reports .

Four women have come forward with allegations of sexual assault between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame, according to the paper.

The Sunday Times reports that others have made a series of allegations of Brand's controlling, abusive and predatory behaviour.

In a video released overnight on YouTube, Brand denied the "very serious criminal allegations" he said were being made against him by a newspaper and television company.

In the video titled "So this is happening", the comedian denied the claims which he described as "a series of extremely vicious and aggressive attacks".

According to the Sunday Times article, one of Brand's accusers claims she was 16 and still at school when they started a relationship after meeting each other.

Another woman claims she was raped by Brand at his home in Los Angeles.

The paper details that she was treated at a rape crisis center the same day and sent him a text afterwards saying: "When a girl says NO, she means no."

A third woman claims he sexually assaulted her at his Hollywood home after the pair met at Alcoholics Anonymous./ CNA
