No matter how kind and generous you are, there will always be someone who will envy you. Most of the time envy is easy to spot, but sometimes it hides behind friendly behavior disguised as kindness.

"One way to tell if a person is jealous or envious of you is to pay attention to how they talk about other people and how they see the world in general," Liz Kelly, a psychotherapist, tells Bustle. “Jealous friends or family members usually try to steal your shine. Whatever you've done, they've done it before and better. The self-esteem issues they have do not let them rejoice in the successes of others and always try to look the best of everyone", notes Cynthia Catchings, mental health therapist, in the same medium.

They criticize your decisions

"A jealous person will constantly criticize your actions or choices, even if they don't affect him at all. So instead of being happy for you or even trying to understand your decisions, they judge you. Another clear sign of envy and lack of self-esteem," says Cynthia Catchings.
