Tira, the rare spotted zebra found in Kenya

A zebra with rare and unique spots was spotted in the Masai Mara in Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve.

The zebra named Tira has a condition called pseudomelanism, a rare genetic mutation in which the animals display a type of abnormality in their stripe pattern.

It is unusual for these animals with this anomaly to survive for a long time, as their color makes them stand out from the herd and are a target for lions.

Zebra stripes are as unique as fingerprints, but Tira's strange coloring may be the first recorded sighting in the Masai Mara.

The zebra has a rather striking dark color, a short and hairless tail, unlike the brush-like tail of a normal zebra.

Most unusually, the animal's color is brown, with white speckled markings. There is no white line on the body or in the eyes. /CNA
