Rare 9.51-carat blue diamond goes up for auction in Geneva

A rare 9.51-carat blue diamond is expected to sell for up to $30 million at auction

November auctions in Geneva will feature the “Mellon Blue” diamond, a Fancy Vivid Blue gem worth up to $30 million, along with the Glowing Rose pink diamond and historic jewels that once belonged to Napoleon.

The diamond will top the Christie's auction in Geneva, with an estimated sale price of $20-30 million.

Once owned by American heiress and style icon Bunny Mellon, the pear-shaped stone is considered one of the finest blue diamonds ever graded.

Sotheby's will follow with the sale of the 10-carat "Glowing Rose" pink diamond and royal jewels associated with Napoleon, marking one of the most prestigious luxury auctions of the year in Europe./CNA
