Centuripe, the Sicilian city that resembles a man

Centuripe, a city in Sicily, is known for its unique, human-like shape when viewed from above. This distinctive plan, resembling a figure with outstretched arms, is not a planned design, but rather a result of its historical development and the city's adaptation to the hilly terrain. It is also sometimes described as resembling a starfish.

The shape of the city is essentially a five-lobed structure extending from a central point, which corresponds to its hilltop location and the surrounding landscape. This shape is visible from a drone perspective, revealing the city's unique layout.

While the shape is random, it adds charm and allure to the city, making it a popular subject for photography and tourism. Centuripe is also known as the "Balcony of Sicily" due to its panoramic views, especially of Mount Etna.

In addition to its unique shape, Centuripe boasts a rich history, with remains of ancient Greek and Roman settlements. The city is also known for its Roman ruins, including baths, a theater and a forum./CNA
