This Tuesday, August 2, the anniversary of the enthronement of the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, Anastas Jonullatos, was celebrated.

In the "Resurrection of Christ" cathedral, in Tirana, the Panagiri Divine Liturgy was performed. The Metropolitan of Korça, Joan Pelushi, that of Apollonia, Nikolla Hyka, of Elbasan, Andon Merdani, of Amantia, Nathanail Stergiu and the Bishop of Bylis, Asti Bakallbashi took part in the mass.

Many clergy from the Archdiocese and Metropolitans also joined the liturgy.

In his speech, Archbishop Anastas said that the miracle we experience is a gift and blessing from God. He emphasized that we will overcome the challenges and problems of the present and the future.

August 2, together with June 24, 1992, in which we commemorate the election and Enthronement of the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, Anastas, are in unison the dates that mark the canonical revival of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania. This anniversary also coincided this year with the 25th anniversary of the revival of the Holy Synod, after the atheist communist destruction.

On the occasion of the celebration of the 31st anniversary of His Beatitude's Enthronement, on August 2, 2023, in the "Resurrection of Christ" cathedral, in the capital, the Panagiri Divine Liturgy was performed. The Metropolitan of Korça, Joani, co-concerned; of Apollonia, Nicholas; of Elbasan, Andoni; of Amantia Nathanail; The Bishop of Bylis, Asti, as well as many clergy from the Archdiocese and Metropolitans. The Liturgy was attended by believers from Tirana and all over the country, who came to celebrate together on this marked day. A special atmosphere was created by the presence of young people from the "Rilindja" camps for boys and girls.

Archimandrite Porfirios from the Holy Mountain spoke on behalf of the Metropolitan of Gjirokastra about the wonderful work accomplished with the rebuilding of our Church and the sound spiritual foundation laid by Archbishop Anastas.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, His Grace Joani, the Metropolitan of Korça, conveyed the congratulations and thanks of those present, clergy and laity, for His Beatitude.

The archbishop, receiving the congratulations of many believers, emphasized that the miracle we live in the reality of our resurrected Church is a gift and blessing from God. We will overcome the challenges and problems of the present and the future because we have placed our faith in Almighty God, who has the final say.

After the Divine Liturgy, a program dedicated to this day was held in the amphitheater hall of the Cultural Center. The activity was moderated by Father Grigor Pelushi. The program started with a reference from Dr. Thoma Shkira on the atheistic persecution of the Church, which was accompanied by a new documentary on this topic; followed by another documentary on the work of Archbishop Anastas and an artistic performance by camp groups for children and youth, with musical pieces, folk dances, traditional camp songs, poems, etc.
