Anastas Nika, the well-known Albanian actor and director, today lost the battle with the serious illness and passed away at the age of 63 in the Athens hospital.

The actor originally from Saranda left behind a rich career. He completed his secondary studies at the School of Culture in Tirana, in the field of directing, and while he was at school he was active in the Theater district, at the Children's Cultural Center, in Tirana.

But in the third year, Nika was expelled because she sang and taught others foreign songs, which was not allowed in the system at the time, which sentenced her to two years, being employed in various factories.

Later, he did mandatory military service, opening bunkers and tunnels, and worked for five years in a brick factory.

But Anastas Nika was never separated from the world of art, as he worked at the factory at night and was active with the troupe of the Saranda City Theater during the day.

He finished high school for Agronomy, completed a director's course at the National Theater in Tirana and completed his studies as an actor at the Academy of Fine Arts.

This paved the way for him as an actor in the Professional Theater of Elbasan and then in the Estrada Theater in Saranda. Also, he worked as a Theater Subject Specialist in the high schools of the city of Saranda, as well as in the Theater course at the Saranda Children's Cultural Center.

Anastas Nika realized with great professionalism and passion about 130 roles on stage, cinema and television.

He has performed in great classic works such as: "King Lear" (Shakespeare), "The Witches of Salem" (Arthur Myler), "The Microbourgeois" (Maxim Gorky), "Antigone" (Sophocles), "The Man Who Saw Death With His Eyes" ” (Viktor Eftimiu), “Not all thieves come for bad” (Dario Fo), “Diary of a Madman” (Nikolaj Gogol), “Engagement” (Anton Chekhov), “My Wife's Husband” (Miro Gavran , Croatian), other.

As a director, Nika has staged more than 70 works and performances of various genres and types, such as variety shows, mass shows, fashion shows, festivals and activities for children, folklore activities, poetic theaters and comedies, among them: "Groom from America ", "Mother's Bequest", "The Folly of a Wise Man" and others.

Also, he has made about 50 poetic mini-films with prominent Albanian and international authors, television films and documentaries.

The director has been honored by UNESCO with the "Silver Crown" for artistic activity, as well as with a number of prizes.

In recent years he has had to fight a serious illness. Many relatives and friends came to help him financially. But this Wednesday, Anastas Nika closed his eyes forever./ CNA.al
