Tinka Kurti, one of the most beloved figures for Albanians, celebrates her 91st birthday this Sunday.

The great actress of the Albanian scene, Tinka Kurti, celebrates with the Albanians, who grew up with Tinka.

Tinka Kurti has dedicated her whole life to cinematography and theater. She stood out with character roles for the way she performed.

From 1949, she was appointed an actress at the "Migjeni" Theater in Shkodër, where she performed over 120 roles. Tinka Kurti excelled in the protagonist roles in the shows: "Gjaku i Arbër", "Histori Irkutas", "Our Land", "Fisheku ne pajë", "Fejesa" etc. She has performed over 35 roles in the cinema and will be remembered as the protagonist, in the first Albanian feature film "Tana", in 1958.

Tinka has stood out with the roles of Mother Pashako in the film "Stars of the long nights" (1972), Mother in the film "The Happy Couple" (1975), Miss Mançini in "Girls with Red Ribbons" (1978), Grandma in " Mother's heart" (1993) etc.

Although she was born in Sarajevo on December 17, 1932, she said: "I am an actress from Shkodra. There I have my love and pain, longing and hostages". In this journey of superior communication, this example of a female teacher, has carved more than 120 roles in the memory of cinema and theater.

She received her 7-year basic education in Sarajevo and when she was only 13 years old her family moved to the city of Tirana where she continued her studies at the Tirana Polytechnic.

As Tinka Kurti herself often says, she accidentally enrolled to study Drama at the Drama High School of that time. Shortly after she started studying in this specialty, she was expelled from school with the motivation "showing liberal tendencies".

It was the director Andrea Skanjeti who spotted her extraordinary talent to bring Tinka back on stage once again with the show "Shkodrane Wedding". After the establishment of the "Migjeni" Theater in the city of Shkodra, she became part of the troupe as a semi-professional actress and was also among the 10 actors who founded the institution of the city of Shkodra.

It was the "Best Actress of the Republic" award and the festival cup at the first Albanian Theater Festival that elevated the actress Tinka Kurti to the category of professional actors with her role in "Our Land" directed by Kol Jakova.

During her career, the actress Tinka Kurti has performed about 260 roles on the stage of the theater and 95 roles in cinematography.

In 1994 she entered the Encyclopedia of the American Biographical Institute as one of the 5,000 most outstanding women in the world and even on December 17, 2007 she was invited to Washington (USA) to place a marble plaque with her name in this Institute.

Tinka for her artistic career has been awarded with other Awards and Titles such as Merited Artist & People's Artist 1961, or even with the "Grand Master" order awarded by the President of the Republic for her artistic activity./ CNA
