Shpëtim Çeliku, serving sentence in high-security prison, passes

Citizen Shpëtim Çeliku, who was serving his sentence in a high-security prison, passed away at around 08:10 at the QSUNT Central Resuscitation Center, where he had been sent for specialized treatment due to his serious health condition.

Death occurred as a result of cardiorespiratory arrest. Çeliku, a resident of Vlora, was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Vlora District Court for the criminal offense of "Murder in other aggravating circumstances", after being arrested on 09.12.2012.

He had 8 years and 5 months left to serve of his sentence. On 15.10.2025 he was transferred to the Prison Hospital from the Shkodra Penitentiary Institution, and then sent to the QSUNT, where he passed away.

The General Directorate of Prisons is implementing procedures by notifying the Prosecutor's Office, the Albanian Prison Service, the Police Commissariat and family members.
