The police have arrested a 31-year-old man with the initials KU in Malësi i Madhe, after being accused of trafficking in narcotics such as cannabis and cocaine.

The court of Milan has assigned the 31-year-old, the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense "Trafficking of narcotics".

The police operation coded "Jeran" is finalized, by the services of the Shkodër Local Police Directorate and those of the Malësi e Madhe Police Station.

A member of a criminal group that, for a period of 7 years, trafficked in Italy, 3.4 tons of cannabis sativa and 35 kg of cocaine, is arrested for the purpose of extradition, the 31-year-old.

As a result of the rapid exchange of information provided within the framework of the "Rule of Law" mega-operation, between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome, regarding the location of a citizen declared internationally wanted, the services of the Local Police Directorate of Shkodër and those of the Commissariat of Malësi e Madhe police finalized the coded police operation "Jeran".

During the operation, a 31-year-old KU citizen was caught and provisionally arrested, to be extradited to Italy.

The court of Milan has assigned the 31-year-old, the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense "Trafficking of narcotics", within the criminal group, according to the provisions of the Italian Criminal Code.

The investigations showed that the criminal group in which the KU citizen was a member, during the period 2015-2022, trafficked in Italy, about 3.4 tons of cannabis sativa and 35 kg of cocaine. Also, 195,953 euros and 1,430 francs profited from this criminal activity were seized from this group.

Interpol Tirana continues to cooperate with counterparts in Rome, for the extradition of this citizen./ CNA
