Self-inflicted gunshot wound/ Details revealed, 17-year-old's father

Investigations continue to uncover and document the incident that occurred yesterday in the "Kushtrimi" neighborhood, where a 17-year-old girl seriously injured herself with a firearm.

The 17-year-old's father is arrested and her grandfather is released on bail.

Following the investigative actions being carried out under the direction of the Prosecution, to clarify the circumstances of the incident that occurred yesterday afternoon, in the "Kushtrimi" neighborhood, where a 17-year-old citizen was seriously injured after attempting suicide with a firearm, the Crime Investigation specialists of the Vlora Police Commissariat:

• arrested in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offenses of "Domestic Violence" and "Causing Suicide", citizen SS, 43 years old, resident of the village of Roma, Vlora, as it is suspected that, due to the violence exerted against his minor daughter, she attempted to commit suicide, in a serious psychological state, with a firearm, suspected to be a pistol;

• referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office where proceedings were initiated against citizen PH, 76 years old, the minor's grandfather, for the criminal offense of "Unlicensed possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition", as he is suspected of illegally possessing the firearm with which his granddaughter attempted to commit suicide.

Work continues to find the firearm, which is suspected to have been hidden by the family members after the incident, as well as carrying out other investigative actions, with the aim of fully documenting the mechanism and circumstances of this event.

The minor citizen is in the Trauma Hospital, under the care of doctors.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vlora, for further action. / CNA
