Caught transporting 12 illegal immigrants/ Two arrested in Tirana

Two people have been arrested in Tirana after they were caught red-handed transporting 12 illegal immigrants for monetary gain.

Citizens BM, 56 years old, and MM, 24 years old, were arrested. They had promised the migrants transportation from the Greek border, with the aim of taking them to border crossings, with the final destination being EU countries.   

Meanwhile, two of their associates have also been declared wanted. Police have seized 2 vehicles and 2 phones.

The police operation codenamed "Relay" is being finalized to crack down on the criminal activity of providing assistance to foreign citizens, for profit, for illegal border crossing. 

Two citizens who were caught red-handed transporting 12 immigrants, for profit, with the aim of illegally crossing the border, have been arrested. 

Their 2 associates are wanted.

2 vehicles and 2 mobile phones were seized. 

Specialists of the Illicit Trafficking Investigation Section, in continuation of their work to crack down on illegality, after an investigative work followed by proactive methods, organized and finalized the "Relay" operation, as a result of which citizens BM, 56 years old, and MM, 24 years old, were arrested in flagrante delicto.

These citizens were caught red-handed by the Police services in Kukës, transporting 12 immigrants in 2 vehicles, to whom, in exchange for a monetary reward, they had been promised transportation from the Greek border, with the aim of crossing them to border points, with a final destination in EU countries.   

Following the investigative actions, citizens Sh. K., 40 years old, and ES, 22 years old, suspected of being involved in this criminal activity, were identified and declared wanted. Work continues to capture them and fully document the case.

 The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action. / CNA
