Tried to bribe police officers/ 36-year-old arrested in Durrës

Durrës police have arrested a 36-year-old man who attempted to bribe police officers.

The police statement states that the 36-year-old is suspected of being under the influence of narcotics and attempted to avoid an alcohol test.

When the officers signaled him to stop, he threw a cigarette containing suspected cannabis out the window.

Durrës Traffic Police crack down on another case of attempted bribery.

The number of vehicle drivers arrested and prosecuted for bribery has reached 26.

The 36-year-old was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and suspected of being under the influence of narcotics, and attempted to bribe police officers to avoid an alcohol test and vehicle inspection, as he had narcotics with him.

The Traffic Police Sector Services at the Durrës DVP, during monitoring with the objective of identifying and punishing violators of the Traffic Code, mainly driving under the influence of alcohol or while intoxicated, have stopped citizen AM, who was driving a BMW, to undergo an alcohol test.

The driver of the vehicle, at the moment of the stop sign by the Traffic Police officers, threw a cigarette containing the narcotic substance suspected to be cannabis out of the window, which was seized as material evidence.

Also, citizen AM attempted to bribe police officers by offering them the amount of 50 euros, in order to avoid the alcohol test and not be accompanied to the police premises for narcotics.

The alcohol test showed that this citizen was driving under the influence of alcohol and is suspected to be under the influence of narcotics.

At the end of the actions carried out, in collaboration with the Narcotics Investigation Specialists at the Durrës Police Department, the arrest in flagrante delicto of citizen AM, 36 years old, resident of Tirana, was made.

The investigative materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for further action./CNA
