Assassination in Balldren, Lezha/ Police with official reaction

The Lezha Police have issued an official response regarding the assassination attempt that occurred today on the outskirts of the village of Balldren. The victims of the shooting were citizen KM, 39 years old, and his wife, citizen GM, 32 years old.

The police continue to conduct checks in the area to locate and capture the perpetrators, while the investigation group is working to clarify the circumstances and causes of the incident.

At around 14:50 at the exit of the village of Balldren, Lezha, on the Balldren-Torrovica road, under still unclear circumstances, a gunshot was fired at an Audi vehicle, driven by citizen KM, 39 years old, who was traveling with his wife, citizen GM, 32 years old, who lost their lives at the scene.

After receiving the notification, police services immediately went to the scene and are continuing to search the area to locate and apprehend the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, a special investigative group has been established, and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, it is working intensively to capture any evidence that will serve the investigation, with the aim of clarifying and legally documenting, identifying and capturing the perpetrators.

It is suspected that the incident may have been a blood feud, as the victim was arrested in 2017, along with his brother, for a murder that occurred 10 years ago. Another suspected motive is drug dealing. /CNA
