A fire broke out on Friday evening at the "San Giovanni Evangelista" hospital in Tivoli, near Rome.

As a result, 3 people lost their lives while 200 others were evacuated. The victims are a man and two women, who died from intoxication.

A fourth person initially listed as dead after the fire actually died of a heart attack. 

The dead are: Pierina Di Giacomo and Romeo Sanna, both 86 years old, Giuseppina Virginia Facca, 84 and Emilio Timperi, 76. The prosecutor is carrying out the inspection at the hospital.

The fire may have started from the special waste department, in the basement of the health care facility in the province of Rome, or from a structure in the back.

The flames are now out, but overnight the smoke-ridden hospital was evacuated: around 200 patients were transferred at around 03:00 last night. Among them are at least 7 children and a pregnant woman./ CNA
