Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington tomorrow to sign an agreement on sharing his country's mineral resources, Trump said.
Zelensky has described the bilateral agreement as preliminary and said he wants further agreements that include US security guarantees to deter renewed Russian aggression.
Trump also apparently ruled out the possibility of Ukraine becoming a member of NATO, one of Zelensky's long-held ambitions.
"Our teams are working with America, we are preparing for talks this Friday," Zelensky said in a video posted on his official Telegram channel.
"A deal with America... I will meet with President Trump. It is important for me and all of us in the world that American aid does not stop," Zelensky said.
After a series of intense negotiations, Washington and Kiev agreed on a deal to create a fund, to which Ukraine will contribute 50% of the revenues from the "future monetization" of state-owned mineral resources, including oil, gas and logistics infrastructure./CNA
