Trump holds first official cabinet meeting/ What is expected to be discussed

President Donald Trump will convene his first formal Cabinet meeting today. Elon Musk, the tech billionaire who has led efforts to reshape government but is not a member of the Cabinet, will attend, signaling his growing importance in the administration. Also on Trump's agenda today: signing additional executive orders.

"Given that he is working alongside the president and our cabinet secretaries, this entire administration will be present tomorrow just to talk about DOGE's efforts and how all the cabinet secretaries are identifying waste, fraud and abuse in their respective agencies," the spokeswoman said.

The meeting will take place amid DOGE’s efforts to implement massive cuts to the federal workforce. Mixed signals have come from Musk and the administration following a Musk-directed ultimatum to federal employees to essentially prove their worth via email or face termination.

Cabinet meetings are traditionally attended by the cabinet secretaries, who are appointed by the president, and the White House chief of staff, as well as the president and vice president, according to USA Today.
