Zelensky continues his visit to Germany/Meeting with Bundestag President

During his visit to Germany, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the President of the German Bundestag, Julia Klöckner, to discuss defense assistance and broader support for Ukraine, according to the Press Office of the President of Ukraine.

"The President thanked Germany for its decision to allocate 7 billion euros in military aid this year. The parties also discussed the possibility of increasing this amount," the statement said.

Zelensky also noted the Bundestag's approval of constitutional amendments that allow for increased defense spending in Germany. The discussion further covered the potential for direct investment in Ukraine's defense industry.

Particular attention was paid to Ukraine's aspirations for EU membership, with both leaders addressing continued support for Ukraine in this process.

The President extended an invitation to Klöckner to visit Ukraine and expressed gratitude for her continued support.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Berlin on Wednesday for an official visit where he held meetings with senior officials and the meeting with Chancellor Merz marked his first stop in Berlin./CNA
