US President Joe Biden will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky this week while in France to mark the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy during World War II, he said. June 4 National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

French President Emmanuel Macron will also host the Ukrainian president in Paris on June 7, the Elyse Palace announced.

Leaders of 25 states and governments will gather in Normandy, along with dozens of World War II veterans, to honor the nearly 160,000 troops from Britain, the United States, Canada and other countries who landed on June 6. 1944.

Biden's state visit will enable "close cooperation" between France and the US on world crises, on the eve of international events.

Meanwhile, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni said Zelensky will attend the summit of the Group of Seven major economies (G7) to be held from June 13 to 15 in the southern Italian region of Puglia.

Biden will also attend the summit, the White House announced.

During the June 13 and 14 event in Puglia, Biden and G7 leaders will discuss "a number of the most pressing global issues, including unwavering support for Ukraine," White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said.

"G7 leaders will take steps to promote economic security and sustainability," the statement said.
