Weapons, ammunition and hand grenades discovered in North Mitrovica

Kosovo Police have discovered three separate cases in the north of the country involving weapons, ammunition, hand grenades and other illegal equipment.

As a result, police actions were taken by conducting checks at three locations:

CASE I
At around 01:20, police units conducted a search of an uninhabited house in the village of Jagnjenic, Zubin Potok, where they found and seized:
- 95 cartridges of various calibers;
- 1 emblem and several shoulder straps of the Serbian Police.

CASE II
At around 09:20, police units, during a search of a barn of an abandoned (uninhabited) house in the village of ?itkovc, Municipality of Zve?an, found and seized:
- 1 AK-47 weapon;
- 1 M-57 hand grenade, Yugoslav production;
- 3 empty AK-47 magazines;
- 85 7.9 mm caliber cartridges;
- 2 military uniforms with Serbian emblems;
- 60 AK-47 cartridges.

CASE III
At around 12:20, police units conducted a search of an uninhabited house in the village of Varage, Zubin Potok, where as a result they found and seized:
- 1 hand grenade;
- 50 7.62 mm caliber cartridges.

At the scene, in cases II and III, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) units also arrived, removing the explosive devices in a controlled manner.

All police actions were undertaken in full coordination with the State Prosecutor, who has instructed the initiation of cases for the criminal offense: “Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons.” No persons have been arrested in connection with these cases.
