Decision/ Funds frozen by the Trump administration for non-profit organizations are released

The US Supreme Court has struck down the Donald Trump administration's decision to "freeze" $2 billion in payments to nonprofits, such as USAID. The court ruled 5-4, forcing the Trump administration to pay the organizations for work they had done up until the president ordered them to stop.

However, the decision did not set a time limit on when the payment had to be made, as the Trump administration has the option of continuing the legal battle in lower courts to prevent this payment from being made.

We recall that on January 24, the Trump administration decided to "freeze" new funding for international aid programs that were implemented mainly through the USAID organization, with the reasoning that its programs needed to adapt to the new policy that America will pursue under Trump's leadership. /CNA
