The EURES 2023 report on labor shortages and surpluses has revealed that the European labor market is tightening despite slower economic growth.
According to this report, 84 percent of occupations were in short supply in one or more countries. Construction and engineering trades, healthcare and ICT emerged as the most affected sectors, SchengenNews reports.
The report highlighted several factors driving this situation, including changes in the structure of the economy, new job trends and skill requirements, demographic changes and societal developments.
About 40 of the identified shortage occupations are categorized as severely affected by the lack of available workers.
In general, the most affected occupations across Europe that are facing labor shortages include:

-Hydraulic, piping
-Heavy truck drivers
-Medical specialists
-Motor mechanics
-Nursing professionals
-Waiters
-Machine fitters
-Floor layers
-Roofers
-Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanics
-Nursing Professionals
