Ukraine downs 21 of 22 Russian drones in latest airstrikes"

Ukrainian air defense systems shot down 21 of 22 drones launched by Russia early on October 9 in the Kyiv, Odesa and Vinnytsya regions, the Ukrainian air force said, adding that three Iskander ballistic missiles had been fired towards the Poltava region.

Meanwhile, authorities in the Kiev region said several drones heading towards the capital had crashed.

In turn, Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defense units destroyed 47 Ukrainian drones targeting its regions.

About 24 drones were downed over the southwestern Bryansk region, while others were downed over the Belgorod, Kursk, Rostov and Krasnodar regions, as well as the Sea of ??Azov, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Telegram.

Regional officials said the attacks caused no casualties.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.
