Tragedy in Kocani/ The mayor of the municipality resigns

The Mayor of Kocani Municipality in North Macedonia, Ljupco Papazov, has today submitted his irrevocable resignation from his position in this institution. The decision came after the tragic event in Kocani where 59 people lost their lives.

In a post on social media, Papazov says that this is a great loss, which will create an unbearable void.

"This loss is immense! There are no words that can describe the pain we all feel. Those children were our children. I knew most of them, I knew their families, and some of them were family friends. The shock and heartbreak I feel will last my entire life. This tragedy has left Kocani and Macedonia in darkness, and the void that is left is unbearable," Papazov wrote.

After resigning, Papazov asks the country's institutions to investigate further the incident, the responsibility of all those involved, and has expressed his willingness to be fully available to the institutions. /CNA
