A recently released video shows slain Russian commander-in-chief Yevgeny Prigozhin commenting on his "elimination".

It comes amid a wave of conspiracy theories that Wagner's boss may not have died.

Many in the West believe he was killed on Vladimir Putin's orders in revenge for the coup he led in June against the dictator's regime.

In the footage, Prigozhin, 62, is seen dressed in military gear in a car and says: "For those who are debating whether I'm alive or not.

"How am I doing? It is the weekend, the second half of August [20]23. I am in Africa. So fans of discussing my elimination, intimate life, earnings or whatever, actually, everything is fine.”

The video was posted by Gray Zone, a Telegram channel associated with Wagner. 

An earlier post from the channel showing his grave was captioned: “He once said that the dead speak more than the living. He proved it!”

Gray Zone did not say when the footage was filmed. However, the video - if true - does not prove that Prigozhin is alive. He is known to have been in Africa - where Wagner has military operations - before returning to Moscow before the crash. 

The pro-war Military Whistleblower Channel suspects the video was recorded on the weekend of August 19-20, when he was in Africa.

"In a few days, Prigozhin will return to Russia, where he will die on August 23 in the explosion of his Embraer Legacy 600 business jet in the Tver region," the channel said.

Prigozhin is known to have been paranoid about security.

The latest video is likely to add to theories that either the Kremlin or another enemy failed to kill Prigozhin in an assassination attempt, or that he was not aboard a plane that was going down./ CNA
