Scientists create innovative cat allergy vaccine

Scientists are testing an innovative vaccine for cat allergies.

ANG-101 will be given to patients at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London in clinical trials, The Sun reports .

This vaccine would be the first in the world to provoke an immune response in adults who are allergic to cats, said Franco-Canadian pharmaceutical company Angany.

Dr Louis-Philippe Vezina, from Angany, said: We are very pleased that our new and promising immunotherapy approach to cat allergies is now being tested in patients. 

"We have named this clinical study 'HOPE' as this important milestone in Angany's vaccine development program should bring new hope to millions of people affected by allergies worldwide.

Cat allergies are the most common animal allergy and affect around one in five adults.

There is currently no cure, although over-the-counter medications can be used to relieve symptoms./ CNA
