The US has air superiority over Iran

The impact of the attacks on Iran has given the United States air superiority over the country, the Chairman of the Army Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, said at a press conference today.

"The combined impact of these strikes, rapid, precise and overwhelming, has resulted in the establishment of local air superiority. This air superiority will not only enhance the protection of our forces, but will also allow them to continue operating over Iran," Caine told reporters.

Caine also said that additional US forces are continuing to enter the region and more forces are expected to arrive on Monday.

"This deployment included thousands of service members from all branches, hundreds of advanced fourth- and fifth-generation fighter aircraft, dozens of fuel tankers, the Lincoln and Ford carrier strike groups and their embarked air wings, a continuous flow of ammunition, fuel, supplies, all supported by command and control intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance networks," Caine said.

“And the influx of forces continues today,” he said. “In fact, Admiral (Brad) Cooper will be taking additional forces today as well,” referring to the commander of U.S. Central Command.

CNN has reported that the US military has been building up its position in the Middle East for weeks, and Caine said today that this has had the intended effect of “surprising and confusing” Iran. The efforts to disrupt their space and cyber operations left them “without the ability to see, coordinate or respond effectively.”
